After a long day, coming home to a serene, personalized bedroom is the best feeling in the world. At DKOR, designing a highly individualized space means working with our clients to create rooms that truly match their preferences and needs. As an example, we’re excited to share master bedroom inspiration from one of our most recent projects en colaboración con Arquitectura Praxis.

We translated the concept of a “zen garden” into an interior design theme for a 5,200-square-foot new construction residence on Bay Point Road in Miami. Using a serene color palette, streamlined furniture, and minimalist accent pieces, we created relaxing rooms that our clients can feel at home in. Keep reading to discover how we took the peaceful master bedroom design inspiration and brought it to life.

Zen Garden Master Bedroom Inspiration

Master Bedroom Inspiration by the Best Interior Designers in Miami

At the heart of our master bedroom inspiration was the integration of yin and yang. We decided to mix light and dark neutrals to create contrasts that would be exciting without being jarring. For example, while the wall behind the bed is a light wood, the accent wall, curtains, and bench at the foot of the bed are all dark grey.

We also added subtle symmetry throughout the space, like the matching nightstands. The minimalist bed frame gives the impression that the bed is floating like a cloud. As a complement, the artwork is a gentle and airy abstract piece. For some pops of color, we included touches of greenery on both sides of the bed as well as a burnt orange velvet pillow.

Using natural layers in the room allowed us to create a sophisticated cocoon-like ambiance. We emphasized geometry and linework, such as the stripes at the top of the wall, in order to create a pleasing visual harmony. The varied wood grains throughout the room go in different directions, adding visual interest.

Master Bathroom Design

Master Bathroom Inspiration with a Touch of Nature

As you can see, the master bedroom inspiration carries into the bathroom. As a focal point, an elegant white freestanding tub sits before a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the lush greenery outside.

While completely private, this was designed to help our clients feel as if they’re relaxing in nature. The floating cabinetry adds to the airy ambiance of the space. This bathroom also features statement wall treatments with natural patterns.

From this perspective, you can appreciate the clean lines of the bathroom. The wall behind the sink features a distinctive wood-like treatment resembling bamboo, which fits into the zen garden theme.

The glass surfaces, including the large mirror and the shower wall,  reflect light and make this space feel bigger. The glass also reflects the trees outside, incorporating nature into the sleek design.

Master Bedroom and Bathroom: Design Inspiration

Getting the lighting exactly right in this bathroom was very important to preserve the peaceful atmosphere. In addition to the overhead recessed lighting, we installed LED backlighting on the mirror, which provides plenty of illumination for daily routines without creating a glare.

We believe that it is very possible to create a minimalist space that is full of life and texture. We hope this small glimpse has inspired you to consider a master bedroom and bathroom renovation – it’s never a bad idea to give these personal spaces a lift.
