As we inch closer to the reveal of our arrecife-inspired modern Miami condo, we’re giving you a sneak peek and highlighting the diverse textures that complete the design.
The home is inspired by coral reefs and all of the textures—from sea sponges to hard coral—that make up these beautiful under-the-sea colonies. So, in each and every room, there must be the perfect combination of textures. But we’re not dealing with sea life, we’re working with wood, stone, woven fabrics, and much more.
At DKOR Interiores, materiality is a key element in each of our interior designs. Textures add interest and depth to rooms, so it’s one of the first things we look at as we design a space, right alongside the color palette. Once we have each texture picked out, we consider the proper placement, ensuring that everything comes together to form one cohesive design.

Sala de estar
The large linen sofa and subtly textured wallpaper set the scene for a variety of textures to play nicely together in this Miami living room. Soft textures, like fringed pillows, a plush rug, and woven poufs, juxtapose hard surfaces, like the Brazilian hardwood coffee table with a deep wood grain, glass vases, tile floor, and slatted wood chairs.
Even the accessories lend texture and depth. The slightly distressed brass offers a hint of shine—as does this West Elm rug—while the ceramic cacti potted in sand are just the right amount of quirky.
Den
The den gets the bulk of its texture from deep blue wallpaper hung behind the TV and wrapping a pair of Ikea cabinets. (Stay tuned for that Ikea hack!) The diamond weave in the wallpaper lends depth to the tiny room, making it feel cozy and warm, while the linen sofa and the chunky throw reinforce that cuddly ambiance.
Comedor
In the dining room, woven textures and wood combine nicely to create a deep and interesting design. A deep wood table sets the backdrop, while a pleated metal light fixture from one of our favorite brands is the star of the show. We love it because it looks a bit like a jellyfish—keeping to our reef theme, without being overtly coastal.
En woven-seat wishbone chairs strike the perfect balance: a smooth wood frame and a woven seat. Plus, they’re so on trend right now.
Dormitorios
Bedrooms are naturally filled with soft, plush textures, so it’s important to add in deep textures and hard surfaces where you can. Woven pillows and throws are simple ways to do so, but we also love selecting bedding with just a hint of tone-on-tone pattern.
The combo of this furry pillow and the Kaishi chair screams cozy chic, while curtain tie-backs with a marble embellishment and spiky faux protea are within themselves both soft and hard.
Outdoors
Rattan and wicker are staples of outdoor design—though you also know we love decorating with these materials indoors—because they withstand the elements and reflect the wild, unfinished nature of the great outdoors. We paired this loveseat and end tables with a smooth egg-shaped coffee table for a modern grouping.
