Most homeowners come to us with a specific list in mind; then something shifts. They see a first space come together, feel listened to and start trusting the interior design process enough to let us guide them toward decisions they weren’t sure about. In 20 years of high end interior design, we’ve watched that trust turn focused projects into whole homes, and first-time clients into families who want to start new projects with us.
A Venetian Islands home in Miami Beach
When a young couple moved from New York into this 8,100-square-foot home it didn’t feel like theirs yet. They asked us to start with the social rooms, so we mapped the work step by step to keep it scheduled, controlled and doable for everyone. That ease is what opened new conversations. For example, the outdoor furniture soon felt out of place, so we redesigned it and recommended stone over the teak flooring for durability. Later, as they told us how much they love to entertain two rooms beside the bar became a second bar and a golf simulator.

A Gables Estates home in Coral Gables
In Coral Gables, trust came from being heard. For a blended family starting a new chapter, this 8,000-square-foot house had plenty of space and little intimacy. Every decision beyond the original scope came from listening closely and guiding them with a professional eye. Early on, they pushed back on wallpaper. It went up in a few key rooms first, and once they saw its warmth, it became one of their favorites. The staircase evolved the same way, as their confidence grew. Feeling heard let them decide calmly, and the project grew well beyond where it began.

An Aventura Family home, project after project
Sometimes that trust spans years. This 4,000-square-foot home belongs to a young family who wanted a transitional look with contrast and layers. We began with the common areas downstairs, and they chose to leave the kitchen for later, setting the pace and budget of each project themselves. They came back for the bedrooms, then the outdoor living area and, years later, the kitchen. They returned because each project gave them what they hoped to see and feel, and one concept kept it all cohesive. When the kids outgrew their playroom, we redesigned it for who they are now.

How trust shapes DKOR’s interior design process
Each of these stories began by listening. We start with how a family lives, create a concept that guides every decision and let you see each result before choosing what comes next. You always know where our team’s time is going, and our relationships with trusted partners work in your favor, including on budget. At the end of each project, we walk through it together, and often the next idea is yours.
Let’s face it, renovating is hard. Once you find someone you trust to follow it through and make it look and feel amazing, it becomes a “guilty pleasure.”
