Under the Sea Design Inspiration for a Miami Condo

Possibly one of our coolest and most out-of-this-world design concepts to date comes from this decorating project in the Marina Palms neighborhood of Miami. The concept is “Arrecife” or reef, but not just any reef, one formed from man-made objects like a sunken ship or statues. The heart of the concept being nature springing forth from unnatural objects. We plan on infusing this home with texture and color that mirror the beauty of this otherworldly environment.

In this Brazilian couple’s vacation home, we’re touching nearly every space. Updating the flooring, and adding design elements like wall coverings, we have the opportunity to make a big difference!

 Let’s start with texture!

 

Just as a reef is home to many textures—soft sponges, hard coral, undulating grasses, and smooth anemone—so too will this Miami condo house many textures. Whether it’s the polished marble, wood grain, woven fabrics, or grassy wall coverings, each element is chosen for its unique texture that will lend depth and interest to the spaces.

Next up, the color palette.

 

 

Our palette is pulled from the reefs themselves: neutral corals, rusty hues to signify the sunken ships, and blues from the ocean. All mixed together, they create a living painting of life on a manmade coral reef.

In the foyer, a rustic wood shelf contrasts a sleek round mirror for a subtle nod to our concept. We like to ease into an aesthetic, so in the foyer, we start with just a hint of what’s to come.

In the living room, a large empty wall is an opportunity to showcase our design concept with flair. We’re presenting a genuine design feature option to our clients. The proposed design embrace the texture and color of a coral reef. This option offers an organic, flowing arrangement of coral-like vessels and air plants.

 

Comedor

 

 

The dining and living rooms flow together in an open-concept space. Our design concept continues to be strongly represented here. An oversize seashell-inspired pendant will hang above wood table surrounded by sleek and modern chairs.
