Interior design trends for 2024 include lots of curves ahead! As in many industries, trends play an important role in the interiors world. Each year, we see a dynamic shift in styles, materials, and color palettes. But how do we as designers stay updated on trends in interior design? By constantly getting inspired and staying informed. Interior design events are one of our favorite ways to stay updated on the trends.

Undoubtedly, Salone del Mobile is one of our favorite international interior design fairs to attend. After attending this year’s show, our Miami interior designers reveal some of the interior design trends 2024 in spaces such as dining rooms and living areas. But today, we are going beyond specific spaces and focusing more on a specific shape we noticed almost everywhere!

One of the standout interior design trends for 2024 that we took away from the fair was the extensive use of curved and soft edges in furniture design. This style was evident everywhere, from furniture pieces to kitchen islands.

The integration of soft beveled edges adds a layer of sophistication and elegance to these items, highlighting both their aesthetic appeal and functional craftsmanship.

The trend is most noticeable in materials such as wood, lacquer, and stone. Designers are using soft curves in these materials, moving away not only from sharp lines but also from the hard shapes popular in previous years.

This shift not only enhances the visual appeal but also provides a sensory experience that evokes warmth and comfort. The natural look of wood, with its grains and textures, coupled with the smooth, shiny finish of lacquer, creates a perfect mix of natural and elegant elements.

CURVES IN KITCHENS

One area in which we noticed this interior design trend 2024 at Salone del Mobile was in the heart of the home, the kitchen. The brands we visited showcased innovative ways to integrate curves into kitchen islands, from curved front millwork panels to countertops featuring beveled edges.

We love how the curved front millwork adds depth and dimension to the space, and how the beveled edges enhance both visual appeal and functionality. Even metalwork, as exemplified by brands such as Shake, featured curvilinear designs that were both striking and durable.

As you can see, the use of soft curves to kitchen islands is a change from the typical sharp designs. They create a more welcoming and harmonious space for cooking, dining, and socializing.

The gentle lines of these sculptural islands not only soften the overall look of the kitchen but also contribute to a sense of flow and movement within the space, making it feel more spacious and welcoming.

CURVES IN CLOSETS

Surprisingly, this interior design trend for 2024 is making its appearance in closets. Here, the integration of soft curves represents a departure from traditional angular designs, offering a more organic and visually appealing aesthetic.

This design approach not only softens the overall look of the closet but also enhances its ergonomic qualities, making it more user-friendly and comfortable to interact with on a daily basis.

By using soft curves, designers find a delicate balance between both form and function. Generally, these gentle lines create a smooth and harmonious space, transforming the closet from a purely practical area into a standout feature that enhances the room’s atmosphere.

CURVES IN FURNITURE

Designers really went all out with soft curves in furniture this year. Seeing that, this interior design trend for 2024 was clear in many pieces displayed in almost every booth. Whether it was chairs showcasing detailed woodwork, softly sculpted stone pieces, or decorative items like mirrors, the influence of curvilinear design was clear.

Almost every furniture brand displayed items featuring a smooth finish and a pleasing texture. As a result, this encourages touch and adds depth to its visual charm.

Soft curves add gentle elegance as well as smooth flow to furniture. Different from sharp angles, these curves create a calming visual pattern that improves the atmosphere of any interior space. Whether used in the main parts of chairs or as decorative accents, soft curves bring a feeling of comfort and approachability. This makes each piece not just useful but also a work of art that blends perfectly with its surroundings.
