The dining room table is an accent piece that our design team selects in almost all of our interior design projects. There are various table designs to choose from, depending not only on the style but also on the needs of each client. When we attend various different design events, we get inspired by seeing what our favorite brands have introduced, and this year was no exception. So, ready to see the latest dining room trends for 2024?

Let’s start by pointing out that dining room tables present an excellent opportunity to select a statement piece, because they are typically located in an area that can be seen and appreciated from most if not all of the common areas of a home.

In order to create an inviting dining room design, selecting a unique dining table is important. But because many people have a busy lifestyle, they often don’t give much thought to the dining room and opt for a quick on-the-go meal instead. However, just like the kitchen, a dining room can be considered the heart of the home. It is where families and friends can gather to share, connect and bond over a delicious meal and spend quality time together.

Dining rooms are also one of the most versatile spaces of a home, since they are often a multi purpose area. Selecting a dining table that can adapt to a family’s needs is crucial because it must adapt to ever changing lifestyles.

STATEMENT PIECES

At the 2024 Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan, we noticed an interesting new trend in dining room tables. Different from other years, brands introduced dining room tables as statement pieces rather than just functional furniture.

So, what does it mean to create a statement piece? It means that brands got creative with their designs, incorporating details such as using a mix of materials, making bases that look like art, playing with different shapes and curves, and adding detailed woodwork.

IRREGULAR SHAPED DINING ROOMS

When we think of a dining room table, we usually picture one that is a rectangle or a circle. However, we’ve noticed that in 2024, luxury interior design has been trending towards unconventional shapes beyond the typical rectangle, oval, and round forms that have been popular in recent years. That look is something we confirmed when we saw all the new collections in Milan this year.

This dining room trend can add a fresh and exciting element to dining rooms, not to mention making them stand out with distinctive and creative table shapes.These tables not only add sophistication but also a special charm to the space!

IRREGULAR SHAPED DINING ROOMS

Another dining room trend we observed was a unified and cohesive design in which the base of the table became part of the table top. In some cases, it was possible to see hints of the base emerging as an accent, almost as if the base were breaking through to the top.

This innovative approach not only adds visual interest but also emphasizes the craftsmanship and artistic elements of the design.

Such designs make the dining room table the focal point of the room. Consequently, it transforms from a regular piece of furniture into a stunning work of art. Surely, this dining room trend highlights the creativity of designers who push the boundaries of traditional dining table aesthetics.

UNIQUE LEGS

Dining room trends 2024 include tables with cylindrical legs, which are quite different from the usual sleek legs.These legs create a rhythmic feel as well as adding dynamic movement to the room. Some designs featured legs that twist together or overlap, creating both interesting patterns and shapes that really catch the eye.

These unique leg designs are not only for looks but are also like art pieces in themselves. As can be seen, they help tell the story of the dining room table, making it stand out and become the focal point in the room.
