Since we began designing commercial interiors, restaurant projects have been some of the most exciting for us, allowing us to create spaces where the dining experience is enhanced through thoughtful design. After months working on this restaurant renovation, we’re excited to reveal our design for Myapapaya, a health-conscious scratch kitchen and juicery in Fort Lauderdale.

Myapapaya Restaurant Interior Design

Renovating their restaurant meant shaping each of our commercial design decisions to create the best guest experience and operational flow, while meeting their new and improved aesthetic goals.

This relocation was a key opportunity for the brand to realign its physical space with its identity. Coming from a previous location where the interiors did not fully reflect their branding or core values, the new design needed to express a clearer, more cohesive voice. We reimagined every detail to translate Myapapaya’s philosophy, energy, and commitment to fresh, conscious dining into the built environment.

The result? A coastal, cool, welcoming space with the theme of “Fresh Roots” to align with their flavor-driven concept. Let’s take a walk through this Fort Lauderdale restaurant together.

A Warm Welcome Through Restaurant Design

Curving architectural lines lead us through this bright restaurant interior, where natural material contrasts and a soothing color palette define the space. It almost feels like you are strolling along a beach with palm trees swaying in the wind. We decided on pale woods, cream and gray stone, and muted greens and blues, which together create a calming, contemporary style that puts guests’ minds at ease as soon as they enter. It’s a place to relax and enjoy healthy food together.

Beneath the custom wood soffit, a central service table provides a functional base for employees while maintaining the same organic shaping as the millwork. As experienced commercial interior designers, we understand the importance of not only how a space looks, but how it works. When creating restaurant interiors, we always consider circulation and efficiency, ensuring there is enough open space for staff to move quickly and comfortably through the environment, especially during peak hours.

In this case, it was also essential to think beyond just internal operations and include the full service workflow. The design integrates a dedicated area for takeout orders, including storage and a clear pick-up zone where drivers and guests can easily collect orders. This ensures a smooth, organized system that supports both front-of-house experience and back-of-house efficiency. Reflecting the fast-paced nature of the restaurant while maintaining a clean, intentional design.

The Seating Area in Fort Lauderdale Restaurant Design

For the seating area, we wanted to create a few options within the same space without it ever feeling crowded. The goal was to support different dining moments, whether someone stopping in for a quick wrap and sitting by the window for a solo meal, coming in with family to gather around a table, or choosing the high-seating area for a more casual experience. We designed every zone with intention, allowing guests to choose the setting that best fits their visit.

Upholstered in an earthy green hue, the seating is complemented by leaf-patterned wall coverings and greenery that bring life throughout the space. We carefully considered every detail to create an environment that feels fresh, welcoming, and holistic.

“As you can see in the photos, large windows fill the space with abundant natural light, enhancing the restaurant’s fresh and airy character. This connection to the outdoors was a key part of the design, with an additional outdoor seating area created to extend the dining experience beyond the interior. It was essential that the design maximized this natural light, allowing it to become an active part of the atmosphere and reinforcing the restaurant’s fresh, vibrant identity.

From floor to ceiling, we’ve designed a tapestry of tonal variations, creating a space that feels lively without being overwhelming. The bespoke details and speckled terrazzo floor offer a playful contrast to the patterned wall treatments, resulting in a balanced and cohesive interior that feels both dynamic and inviting.

A Closer Look at the Design Details

We carefully coordinate and construct all of the elements in our restaurant designs to create an immersive experience for guests. For example, the patterns on the walls of Myapapaya coordinate with the plants and rattan pendant lights. While the shapes of the furniture and fixtures flow together to bring a sense of movement to the space.

On another note, the high table area provides yet another option for diners, creating a space-efficient arrangement that seats eight.

Finally, we’ve added a small bar area in keeping with the same bright coastal minimalist style. Focusing on the richness of material and shapes, this corner of the restaurant interior is the perfect summary of the ‘Fresh Roots’ concept.
